چکیده

Background: Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality, affecting approximately 1% all live births 10% preterm infants. Lamellar bodies represent storage form pulmonary surfactant within Type II pneumocytes, secretion which increases with advancing gestational age, thus enabling prediction the degree FLM. Preterm premature rupture membranes (PPROM) complicates 1/3 births. Birth 1 week most likely outcome for any patient PPROM in absence adjunctive treatments. has been reported to be common complication birth. Sepsis, intraventricular haemorrhage, necrotizing enterocolitis also are associated prematurity, but these less near term. Objective: To assess efficacy amniotic fluid lamellar body counting from vaginal pool predicting fetal lung maturity women membranes. Methods: This study was conducted at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital emergency ward January 2019 September 2019. It included 106 singleton pregnancies, age 28 - 36 weeks designed (LBC) Results: The current revealed highly significant increase count cases giving birth neonates without RDS compared that RDS. Also, no statistically difference between LBC parity number previous miscarriages mother found. Gestational delivery significantly lower among respiratory distress. Steroid administration frequent However, had high diagnostic performance Conclusion: an effective, safe, easy, cost-effective method (FLM). does not need equipped laboratory or specially trained personnel, it just needs conventional blood analyzer. Measurement now replacing Lecithin/Sphyngomyelin L/S ratio. cut-off value ≤42.5 × 103/μL can used safely decide sensitivity 95.7% specificity 97.6%.

Predicting lung maturity in preterm rupture of membranes via lamellar bodies count from a vaginal pool: a cohort study

BACKGROUND Amniocentesis is the accepted mode of attaining amniotic fluid to perform tests for fetal lung maturity. The purpose of this study was to validate a non-invasive fetal lung maturity test by counting lamellar bodies from a vaginal pool among women with preterm premature rupture of membranes. METHODS In a prospective study, amniotic fluid specimens were collected from a vaginal pool ...

Validity of lamellar body count as a fetal lung maturity assessment in twin pregnancy.

Fetal lung maturity assessment in twin pregnancy has been discussed, but is still controversial. The purpose of this study is to predict the occurrence of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) using lamellar body count (LBC) and analyze the validity of LBC for fetal lung maturity assessment in twin pregnancy. Three-hundred two amniotic fluid samples were obtained at cesarean section from 29 to 38...
